The jounce, or bump stop, serves a crucial role in your suspension: It acts as the hard upper limit to stop the wheel, progressively increasing end stroke damping and preventing metal to metal contact. When a vehicle is pushed hard, the bump stop is one of the hardest working pieces of equipment you have and lives a pretty rough life.
